With staff of all ages and walks of life, a job with Mears has a rewarding impact on the lives of others and your own life. With offices across the UK, a job at Mears could be just around the corner.

An excellent opportunity has now arisen for a Senior Commercial Manager to join us in Welwyn Garden City.

Within this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely cost proposals for tenders based on client tender documentation. Leading the commercial pricing function, you will be part of the development team reporting to the Senior Business Development Lead.

Your responsibilities will also include the evaluation of tender enquiries, identification of sub-contract requirements, costing analysis, evaluation of material quotes and sub-contract prices and building up of unit rates for tendering purposes.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record in pricing bids using "first base principals" along with proven experience in post tender negotiations with clients (references may be required in support of this). You will have particular strengths in pricing response repairs, voids and gas in the Social Housing sector.

With experience of presenting bid proposals to Directors for the purposes of adjudication, we are also looking for candidates who are familiar with commercial aspects of standard forms of contracts (NEC, TPC2005, JCT, PPC2000), conflict management and dispute resolution.

Education to HND level in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial discipline will also be required, coupled with substantial experience in the role with leading competitors.

Although not essential, Refurbishment or Social Housing estimating experience would be an advantage, as would a CLAIT or ECDL computer qualification.

Candidates for this role must hold a full valid driving licence
